CommuniTree Festival – Growing a Global Arts Experience in Nottingham
CommuniTree Festival brought an exciting programme of global music and creative arts to Nottingham, creating spaces where people could come together, experience different cultures and take part in something shared.
Supported by Arts Council England, The National Lottery Community Fund, Arnold Clark Community Fund and Nottingham City Council, the festival took place across a range of locations, each offering a distinct setting and atmosphere.
Events were hosted in urban theatre spaces, at an urban farm, and within the formal gardens of Wollaton Hall. Moving across these environments allowed the festival to reach a wide and diverse audience, while also shaping the feel of each event in a unique way.
The programme showcased music, dance, drumming, storytelling and participatory workshops from a range of global traditions alongside local artists. Audiences were invited not only to watch, but to join in, creating opportunities for connection, learning and shared cultural experience.
Feedback from those attending reflected the impact of the festival. One person described it as “a mini WOMAD” – an observation that closely reflects the intention behind CommuniTree Festival: to create a varied, welcoming and culturally rich programme that brings people together through creative arts from around the world.
Across all events, there was a strong sense of community. People of different ages and backgrounds shared space, engaged with new art forms and connected with one another in meaningful ways.
We would like to thank Arts Council England, The National Lottery Community Fund, Arnold Clark Community Fund and Nottingham City Council for their support in making this work possible, and to everyone who attended, performed and contributed to the festival.
CommuniTree Festival continues to develop as a space for cultural exchange, creativity and community connection in Nottingham.
We are looking forward to CommuniTree Festival 2026 - watch this space!
